Sixth Form

The Sixth Form comprises the last two years of school and is focused on preparation for entry to university. Students at BISM follow the A Level programme, the most widely recognised university entrance qualification in the world.
Unlike other baccalaureates, the A Level course favours depth over breadth. Students typically study three or four subjects from a wide range of options based on their likely area of study at university.
At the same time it is an extremely flexible programme. Students can choose any combination of subjects. They can specialise in sciences, humanities, arts or social sciences. Or hey can also choose not to specialise at all and select a diverse set of subjects that suits their unique interests and abilities.

The reduced number of subjects in the A Level programme compared to other baccalaureates allows for specialisation but doesn’t prescribe it . What it does imply is that subjects are studied in greater depth and with a level of challenge that is closer to the standard students will encounter at university.
Lessons are typically taught in small groups. This allows for dynamic lessons, lively discussion and a high degree of personalisation. Subjects are taught by subject specialist teachers with experience in the A Level course and a track record of good results.
The A Level programme offered at BISM is modular which means that students can opt to sit examinations at various points throughout the course as they complete modules rather than taking them all at the end of Year 13.

Throughout the two years, with the support and guidance of the Head of Sixth Form, students spend significant time investigating different career paths, selecting the university courses that match their career ambitions, identifying and working towards meeting all the requirements and then going through the university application process in a timely fashion.
BISM also provides a career enrichment programme which is designed to give students insight into various different careers and professions. The programme includes regular talks from industry insiders, visits to companies and institutions and opportunities for short internships and other activities that can enhance their career prospects and put them in the best position to succeed beyond school.
