Music

BISM has an exceptional music programme. Beyond the curriculum which allows students to study music up to GCSE and A Level,  there are many opportunities to go much further and in different directions.

In the Primary and Secondary school, music is part of the Extended Curriculum. A range of modules are offered with emphasis being placed on learning an instrument or participating in one of the school choirs.

Pupils who decide to take learning a musical instrument further are able to do so through the school’s instrumental programme, which involves a weekly one to one lesson with a specialist. Students in the individual instrumental programme work through the grade levels of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, or similar qualification.

Once pupils reach a certain level of proficiency in their instrument they are able to join one of the school’s various music ensembles offering different ranges of ability.

Pupils perform frequently in individual and ensemble performances during assemblies and other occasions and events inside and outside of school.
