Sports
The sports programme at the British International School of Marbella is a major and integral part of the education provided at the school. There are many opportunities for pupils to take part in sports activities ranging from basic skills to advanced competition.
The school focuses on four major sports - football, basketball, swimming and athletics - while at the same time offering activities in other sports like handball, cricket, netball or dance at a lower competitive or recreational level.
Within the Extended Curriculum in both Primary and Secondary there is a wide range of modules available. Some are aimed at building proficiency in the key skills of the school’s four major sports, some are designed as preparation for competitions and some teach the basic foundational skills of a sport.
The House Sports Competition run all year. Our four houses compete in six week tournaments in football, basketball, swimming, athletics, handball, netball and cricket on a rotational basis. The most successful house during the course of the year takes the House Sports Cup.
BISM also competes against other schools and sports clubs in various external competitions. Participation in school teams is selective although there are plenty of opportunities for students to improve their skill and ability and gain selection to a team.
