Dia De Andalucia at BISM

Dia De Andalucia at BISM

Last week, BISM celebrated Andalucía Day in true Spanish style. Classrooms and corridors were decorated with vibrant displays of green and white, while children proudly arrived dressed in beautiful flamenco outfits and traditional Andalusian colours, looking absolutely fantastic.

Throughout the week, pupils deepened their understanding of this unique region of Spain, exploring its rich history, culture, and traditions. One of the highlights was a special assembly dedicated to Andalucía, where we were both entertained and intrigued by the distinctive Andalusian expressions and phrases, discovering how they differ from standard Spanish. Several children confidently shared presentations they had prepared about the region, showcasing their research and enthusiasm with the whole school community.

There was also plenty of music and dance as Year 3 and 4 delighted us with a wonderful Andalusian song, followed by a beautiful flamenco demonstration. Year 3 also had the opportunity to take part in a flamenco workshop, where they honed their dance steps and rhythm skills, immersing themselves in this important and expressive aspect of Spanish culture.

a special congratulations goes to Year 1B, who were crowned winners of our door decorating competition with their creative Spanish tapas-themed design. Overall, it was a joyful, immersive celebration that brought our entire school community together and allowed everyone to experience the vibrancy and traditions of Andalucía.
