Plastic Free Beaches

BISM students joined in a local initiative organised by Plastic Free Seas Worldwide.

Students and parents spent a Saturday morning combing one of our local beaches for plastic waste. There was a huge turnout on a what was a typically gorgeous autumn day.

According to Mr Holden, who promoted the initiative within our school, many of the students commented on how clean the beach looked on arrival. However, the participants collected 285kg of litter in just over an hour, demonstrating just how insidious the problem of plastic waste is.

It was a fantastic day of community action and a lovely opportunity for many of our new families to meet other members of the school community.
