History

History is a key element of the Knowledge and Understanding strand of our Extended Curriculum. It encourages students to consider how the past influences the present, what past societies were like, how these societies organised their politics, and what beliefs and cultures influenced people’s actions.

History supports not only the gathering of knowledge, but also develops important skills. Students find evidence, weigh it up and reach their own conclusions. To do this, they need to be able to research, sift through evidence, argue and defend their point of view - skills that are prized in adult life. A range of topics are studied relating to Local and World history.
