Mrs Ruth Townsend
Art Specialist and Year 9 Mentor
PGCE Secondary Education, Open University BA hons Costume and Make up for Performing Arts, London College of Fashion
I am a passionate teacher with a love for the arts. I qualified 10 years ago with a PGCE in Secondary education from the Open University specialising in Design and Technology. Since then I have taught across Technology and Art up to A level with success in traditional qualifications and national competitions. Prior to teaching, I gained my degree from London College of Fashion and worked within the entertainment industries in costume and prop making. I thoroughly enjoyed my work in the West End in particular, working on a range of shows including Saturday Night Fever and The Lion King. It wasn’t until I was invited back in to school as an artist in residence that I discovered my passion for teaching. I am so excited about working internationally and am thrilled to be joining the British International School of Marbella as an Art Specialist.
